Do you remember toiling for hours over the perfect Valentines Day Box as a child? It had to be unique, colorful and say love me, give me candy and Valentines. Looking back now, it may seem silly, but Valentines Boxes are a big deal to most children.

Coming up with unique ideas for your childs Valentines box is not as hard as it may seem. Just remember, it just has to be new to them. Try to recall the Valentines boxes that you created as a child, then add a new twist and there you go!
Use vivid colors or your childs favorite color for the decorations. Ask your husband for ideas, believe it or not, he may have some things in the garage, like old springs or plastic fasteners, that may be just what you need when constructing your childs Valentines box.
Look through craft magazines at the supermarket as Valentines Day approaches if you are truly stumped for ideas. Boxes with a love theme are a sure bet. Mailboxes, flower pots complete with flowers, doll houses, paper-mache monster trucks, popular Disney characters, and even plain shoe boxes cover in hand decorated wrapping paper are a few ideas.
If you are crunched for time, buy a large heart shaped box of candy, eat the chocolates, and tape the box shut. Then let your child add glitter, construction paper hearts and sayings or wrapped candy to the outside. Be sure to cut a hole for the Valentines, or your box will be useless at the school party.
Decoration ideas are, candy hearts with sayings- glued to the package, glitter, stickers, clip art printed from the family computer, stenciled drawings, coloring book images colored by your child, free hand drawings, and even old Valentines Day cards cut up and recycled onto the outside of your childs Valentines Day box.
While your child may want a perfect box, be sure to let them do the majority of the work with supervision by you. This way, your child can take pride in the creation, especially if their box wins a prize at the Valentines Day party at school.
Getting everyone in the family involve in crafting Valentines boxes can make for a fun night of family crafts, fun and laughs. Consider sneaking a handmade Valentine from mom and dad into the box before your child leaves for school that they will discover later.
