Deciding On A Valentines Party Idea That Wont Break Your Piggy
Okay, so your kids are all excited about the great Valentines Party at school, but the weather man says most likely school will be cancelled and you will be snowed in with a house full of kids that bumming over the loss of sugar, Valentines and games. Not to despair, you can throw a great Valentines Day party with a few starter ideas and best yet, you dont have to rob your piggy bank.
Use What Youve Got
Check your kitchen cabinets, if your have 15 boxes of cake mix or jell-O stored up in there, then drag them out, youve just planned your menu for your party. You can dress up jell-O cups with whipped topping and gummy worms or cinnamon hearts if your have them, even sprinkles work, remember, theyre kids, theyre easy.
If its colorful and loaded with sugar, they love it. Let your kids help you mix up 5 bowls of cake mix and pour them into cupcake cups. Let them mix the batters to create new flavors if they want. Dont worry, if they make it, theyll eat it. Drag out the icing and sprinkles and let them have fun.
Coming up with ideas for your Valentines Party doesnt have to be hard. Just ask your kids what they want to do, then tone it down a little and see what you have lying around the house to work with. I f they want to dress up like pirates, drag out the coat hangers and construction paper, make a hook for a hand from the hanger and craft pirate hats from black construction paper.
Another Valentines party idea is to pretend that you are spending Valentines Day on a warm sunny beach in Tahiti. Crank up the heat, put on some shorts and sunglasses and crank up the reggae music, man! Create a Congo line with your kids and make non-alcoholic mixed drinks with Kool-Aid and fruit juice. Just have fun with it.
Kids love tents. Incorporate this idea into your Valentines party by extending the festivities into the night by allowing your children to make their own tents in the living room with blankets and chairs, and let them sleep in them with flashlights and a bag of marshmallows.
Whatever idea you go with for your spectacular family Valentines party, just keep it fun. Your kids are going to be cooped up with cabin fever and running on high octane sugar anyways, so just make the most of it. Then they can tell their friends what a cool Valentines Day they had when the snow finally melts. |
